Played by ear, not by reading

Most lyric games hand you a printed line with one word blanked out. That tests whether you have read the words. It does not test whether you know the song. This one plays a single second of the actual recording and asks you to name it.

Get it instantly and it is worth five points. Miss, and you hear two seconds, then four, then seven, then eleven, worth less each time. Knowing a song and recognising it in a second turn out to be very different skills, which is why the first round humbles almost everybody.

How does it work?

You hear one second of a real song. Name it and you bank five points. Miss it and you unlock two seconds, then four, seven and eleven, worth less every time. Five songs per run, about two minutes start to finish.

Does it show me the lyrics?

No, and that is the point. You play by ear. Nothing is printed on screen, so a one second clip is genuinely hard and getting it feels genuinely good.

Do I have to spell the title exactly?

Not even close. Start typing and pick from the suggestions, or type freely. Typos, missing words and bracketed extras like a featured artist all still count.

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up, no download, no app store, no cost. Ads are what pay for it.

What music is in it?

Pop, rock, hip hop and R&B by default, plus K-Pop, Latin, Bollywood and Desi if you want them. There are also single-artist quizzes for dozens of acts and decade quizzes from the 80s to the 2020s.

What is the Daily Challenge?

Five songs a day, the exact same five for every player on earth, resetting at midnight UTC. Play on consecutive days to build a streak, then share a spoiler-free grid of your result and make your friends try to beat it.
